Wishing Trump’s death from COVID-19 not allowed on Facebook, Twitter

As news of President Donald Trump’s positive COVID-19 diagnosis spread, social media companies warned their users that content wishing for the president to die won’t be allowed on their platforms.

After the president revealed on Thursday that he and first lad Melania Trump had tested positive for the virus, many people took to social media to wish him a speedy recovery, but many others said they hoped for the opposite outcome.

A Facebook spokesperson Friday such post violate the social media giant’s user policies and will be removed.

Lauren Corrao Exits as Head of Programming at Freeform

A year and a half after taking the job, Lauren Corrao is no longer head of programming at Freeform, the network confirmed Friday night. She first assumed the role in April, 2019, replacing Karey Burke. The network did not elaborate on the circumstances of her departure, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news, Corrao will maintain a relationship with Freeform, developing and producing potential new shows. U.S. patchwork of state, county election computer networks still vulnerable to cyberattacks

WASHINGTON — In a little-noticed episode in 2016, an unusual number of voters in Riverside, California, complained that they were turned away at the polls during the primary because their voter registration information had been changed.

The Riverside County district attorney, Mike Hestrin, investigated and determined that the voter records of dozens of people had been tampered with by hackers. Hestrin said this week that federal officials confirmed his suspicions in a private conversation, saying the details were classified.

Last year, a cybersecurity company found a software flaw in Riverside County’s voter registration lookup system, which it believes could have been the source of the breach. The cybersecurity company, RiskIQ, said it was similar to the vulnerability that appears to have allowed hackers — Russian military hackers, U.S. officials have told NBC News — to breach the voter rolls in two Florida counties in 2016.
